COVID-19 Vaccination Policy for In-Person Learning

ACLS Instructors

All ACLS instructors are fully vaccinated against COVID-19

ACLS Learners

  • All ACLS Learners are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

  • Proof of vaccination and official government ID is required to attend all in-person ACLS courses. 

  • Staff and Physicians attached to NYGH can use hospital ID as proof of ID. 

Defintions

  • Fully Vaccinated –Received all doses and required boosters of the COVID-19 vaccine as authorized by Health Canada, and completed the two-week period following vaccination. Currently this is 2 vaccines and 1 booster.

  • Proof of Vaccine – Electronic vaccine passport that has been provided by a provincial/territorial government in Canada and that shows the dates of

Cancellation Policy

Written notice is required to cancel an ACLS registration. Notice can be by email, mail or fax.

 

If written notice is provided:

  • 30 days or more before the course - $75.00 administration fee

  • 29 to 14 days prior to the course - 50% of the fee will be returned

  • 13 days or less before the course - no refunds

  • Manual fees will not be refunded

Failure to Submit Proof of Completion of Course Prerequisites

It is the registrant’s responsibility to ensure they have completed all course prerequisites. Proof of completion must be submitted prior to participating in the course.  Registrants who do not provide proof of a current BLS certification or completion of the self-assessment will not be able to participate in the course and are not eligible for a refund or transfer of their fees.

Course Remediation Policy

Participants who require additional discussion and/or practice (remediation) to successfully complete the course may receive remediation during or after the course. If a student is still not successful after remediation, the student must repeat the course. 

Remediation for Written Exams

  • One supplemental closed-book, written exam is permitted

  • Supplemental exam must be completed within 30 working days from the original course date

  • Supplemental exam must be supervised by a Certified Instructor

  • A score of 84% or greater is required.

Remediation for Skills Evaluation

  • Participants are only provided remediation on one component. 

  • Skills components are:

    • Team leader in the cardiac arrest simulation​

    • One-rescuer CPR or AED 

    • Management of respiratory arrest bag-valve mask ventilation evaluation
